The Best Things to Do for Quality Team Building in Tempe, Arizona
Things are much harder to achieve in almost every walk of life without good people around you- it certainly applies to our business. We believe that solid working relationships between our internal contractors are the life force of our business - and we wouldn’t be able to deliver the exceptional service we do if we didn't prioritize them.
Team building - inside and outside working hours- is something we put a lot of effort into- finding fun things to do together to strengthen bonds and ultimately benefit our business. Here are a few ideas for activities in Tempe to bring synergy to your team. Watch the Sunrise in the Sonoran Desert Like most of Arizona, Tempe is surrounded by desert- but it is not all that often that people get out of the city limits to experience the other-worldly terrain. It is team building- and character building- to gear up for a trek through the sand, under the stars. By removing people from their comfort zone and presenting a challenge to complete together, you can help your team to bond and feel great about themselves. Our team took part in a two-hour hike in the Sonoran desert on the outskirts of Tempe. It is only mildly physically challenging- so you don’t need to be an experienced hiker to manage the journey. The trek ended with the reward of a stunning desert sunrise- a beautiful shared moment we won’t forget in a hurry. Go E-Biking Around Papago Park Papago Park is one of the most accessible desert circuits in all of Arizona- and it is right on Tempe’s doorstep. The wild landscape of boulders, caves, and shrubs looks like nature's playground- because it is! One of the best ways to explore it is on electric bikes- our team loved it. As long as you have basic bike-riding abilities, you can whiz around Papago Park and other areas of interest on an e-bike (no need for strenuous pedaling). You learn about some of the city’s history, get to explore the desert, and have a laugh with your co-workers and teammates at the same time. Paddleboarding at Tempe Town Lake Tempe Town Lake is one of the most iconic locations in the city- and a definite must-see. The reservoir was created for more than just aesthetic purposes and now serves as the second most visited tourist attraction in the city. Even for those who live and work in and around Tempe, being a tourist for the day at Tempe Town Lake is a great way to spend a day. We find that people bond best when they are having fun at the same time as being challenged- a theory we tested by taking our team and internal partners paddleboarding. It may look like a calming day out- but throw in a little competition, and it soon turns into a hilarious day of team building in a stunning location- just remember to bring some towels! Hiking on Hayden Butte Hayden Butte is one of the most culturally significant landmarks in Arizona- and is particularly dear to the people of Tempe. Its rich history as a Native American settling ground is still alive today through ancient rock paintings and archeological sites. A hike on Hayden Butte is a team-building experience with a difference. We took a half-day trek around the landmark- including stops for a shared lunch and some games and challenges to help us connect. See a Show at the Tempe Center for the Arts You can’t talk about things to do in Tempe without mentioning the Tempe Center for the Arts. There are all kinds of things to do here- listening to live music, browsing local artistic talent, photographing the stunning city views, or enjoying happy hour by the water. As a team, we regularly visit the Tempe Center for the Arts on Walk-In-Wednesdays. Every Wednesday evening, the main lobby has an open door- and open mic- policy from 5 pm until 10 pm. Anyone with musical talent and the desire to perform can show up and sign up to perform- a real treat for those who are simply there to watch. Making it a regular thing has helped our internal contractors get to know each other better- and has ultimately improved our working practices.
